Jennifer Ferguson is a multi-disciplinary artist and is currently in residency @ The Hunt Club Community Arts Centre. Her practice spans performance, photography, video, and painting. And, explores the notion of belonging and unbelonging and questions the construction of identity through intersectionality.
As someone who identifies as Australian – Filipino and raised by a Maori woman. Jennifer has always occupied this ambiguous space between cultures, experiencing a great sense of conflict and pressure to individualise these identities.
Through the development of her artistic projects, Jennifer has come to realise the powerful role of intersectionality and hybridity. This has helped to shift her way of thinking and empowered her to heal through her attempt to create a narrative for people – particularly for those who don’t occupy contemporary art spaces.
